Eski Yunanl\u0131lar b\u00fct\u00fcn sava\u015f\u00e7\u0131lar\u0131 kad\u0131n olan bir \u00fclkeden bahsederler. O \u00fclkede ya\u015fayan kad\u0131nlara da “Amazon” derler. Amazonlar\u0131n ger\u00e7ekten ya\u015fad\u0131klar\u0131na dair baz\u0131 dayanak noktalar\u0131 da var.<\/p>\n

M\u00d6 5. y\u00fczy\u0131lda ya\u015fam\u0131\u015f olan Yunan tarih\u00e7i Herodot’a g\u00f6re, Sarmatlar Amazonlar\u0131n ve \u0130skitlerin atalar\u0131d\u0131r. Tarihi \u00c7erkesya topraklar\u0131nda yap\u0131lan arkeolojik kaz\u0131larda, Sarmat ve \u0130skit mezarlar\u0131ndan \u00e7\u0131kan iskeletlerin b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011funun kad\u0131nlara ait olmas\u0131, k\u0131l\u0131\u00e7lar, ok ba\u015flar\u0131, \u00e7izme, k\u00fcpe ve tak\u0131lara bak\u0131l\u0131rsa, mezarlar sava\u015f\u00e7\u0131 kad\u0131nlara aittir. Romal\u0131 tarih\u00e7ilere ve Antik d\u00fcnyan\u0131n son b\u00fcy\u00fck tarih\u00e7isi olarak an\u0131lan Procopius’a g\u00f6re de Amazonlar\u0131n vatan\u0131 Kuzey Kafkasya co\u011frafyas\u0131d\u0131r. Homeros, Diodoros ve co\u011frafyac\u0131 Strabon da Amazonlardan s\u00f6z eder.<\/p>\n

Amazonlar\u0131n daha kolay yay ve m\u0131zrak kullanabilmek i\u00e7in sa\u011f g\u00f6\u011f\u00fcslerini kestiklerine dair baz\u0131 rivayetler de vard\u0131r.<\/p>\n

Dilbilim Profes\u00f6r\u00fc olan John Colarussa, son Kanada seyahatimizde,\u00a0Amazonlar konusunda ba\u015f\u0131ndan ge\u00e7en bir olay\u0131 \u015f\u00f6yle anlatm\u0131\u015ft\u0131 bana:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cDaha ge\u00e7en y\u0131l, Stanford\u2019da Yunan Klasikleri B\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fc’nden bir profes\u00f6r benimle temas kurdu. Bana ellerinde 13 adet b\u00fcy\u00fck vazo oldu\u011funu, bu vazolar\u0131n \u00fczerlerinde amazon resimleri ve anlam\u0131n\u0131 bilemedikleri baz\u0131 Yunanca kelimeler bulundu\u011funu s\u00f6yledi. \u201cAmazon Adigece bir kelimedir, \u2018orman ana\u2019<\/em><\/strong> anlam\u0131na gelir\u201d. Yunanl\u0131lar bunu yeniden \u015fekillendirmi\u015flerdir.<\/p>\n

Vazonun \u00fczerindeki resimlerde kad\u0131nlar tunik pantolon ve \u00e7izme giyiyorlard\u0131, bu Amazon resimlerinin alt\u0131nda, Yunan alfabesi ile yaz\u0131lm\u0131\u015f ama okunmayan baz\u0131 kelimeler vard\u0131. Ba\u015fka biri Abhazca \u201ck\u00f6pe\u011fi sal\u201d anlam\u0131ndayd\u0131. Kelimeler 2 bin 500 y\u0131ll\u0131kt\u0131 ve antik Abhazca’yd\u0131, fakat Yunan harfleriyle yaz\u0131lm\u0131\u015ft\u0131. Onlara, adam\u0131n bir yere ko\u015fup, bah\u00e7e gibi bir yerden bir \u015fey \u00e7ald\u0131\u011f\u0131 anlam\u0131na geldi\u011fini s\u00f6yledim.
