Sovyetler Birli\u011fi\u2019nin da\u011f\u0131lmas\u0131, kurulan ili\u015fkilerle birlikte Kafkasya\u2019n\u0131n daha yak\u0131ndan tan\u0131nmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flad\u0131. 1991\u2019den sonra ba\u015flayan ve hala devam eden bu s\u00fcre\u00e7 hem T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de daha \u00f6nce ad\u0131 duyulmam\u0131\u015f halklar\u0131n adlar\u0131n\u0131n duyulmas\u0131n\u0131 sa\u011flad\u0131, hem de \u00f6nceden bilinen etnik adlar\u0131n kullan\u0131m\u0131nda ve bizzat Kafkasyal\u0131lar\u0131n kendilerini tan\u0131mlamalar\u0131nda de\u011fi\u015fikliklere yol a\u00e7t\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrkiye\u2019deki Kafkasyal\u0131 n\u00fcfusun \u00f6nemli bir b\u00f6l\u00fcm\u00fcn\u00fc olu\u015fturan Abazalar da bu karma\u015fadan nasibini ald\u0131. T\u00fcrkiye halk\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7o\u011funun belle\u011finde, ne kadar tan\u0131nd\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u015f\u00fcpheli olsa da \u201cAbaza\u201d bir etnik grubun ad\u0131 olarak yer al\u0131r. Kendilerini anadillerinde \u00f6yle adland\u0131rmasalar da bu ad hem Abazalar\u0131n kendileri taraf\u0131ndan hem de di\u011fer Kafkasyal\u0131lar taraf\u0131ndan benimsenmi\u015ftir. Bir de daha \u00e7ok yaz\u0131l\u0131 literat\u00fcrde rastlanan \u201cAbhaz\u201d ve \u201cAbazin\u201d vard\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de yasayan etnik gruplar\u0131 Afrika\u2019daki kabilelerden daha az tan\u0131yan T\u00fcrkiye medyas\u0131, 1992-93 y\u0131llar\u0131nda Abhazya ve G\u00fcrcistan aras\u0131nda ya\u015fanan sava\u015f s\u0131ras\u0131nda T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019ye \u2018Abaz\u2019 ve \u2018Abhaza\u2019y\u0131 da kazand\u0131rd\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>Bug\u00fcn bu adlar\u0131n her birini bir yerlerde duyabilirsiniz. Bu co\u011frafyada eskiden beri bilinen ve kullan\u0131lan \u201cAbaza\u201d ise art\u0131k baz\u0131 kesimlerde tercih edilmez oldu. D\u0131\u015far\u0131dan bakanlar\u0131n alg\u0131lamas\u0131ndaki ve adland\u0131rmas\u0131ndaki kar\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k bir yana, Abazalar\u0131n kendileri de bu konuda fikir birli\u011fi i\u00e7inde de\u011filler.<\/p>\n<p>Benim kullanmay\u0131 tercih etti\u011fim adlar\u0131yla Abazalar, tarihin bilinen ilk d\u00f6nemlerinden beri bug\u00fcn Abhazya olarak bilinen \u00fclkede yasayan bir Kafkas halk\u0131d\u0131r. Bu halk\u0131n eski Roma, Bizans, Arap, Rus ve T\u00fcrk kaynaklar\u0131nda ge\u00e7en tarihi ad\u0131 da \u201cAbaza\u201d veya bunun biraz de\u011fi\u015fik \u015fekilleridir. Anadolu ve Ortado\u011fu co\u011frafyas\u0131nda eskiden beri bu adla tan\u0131n\u0131rlar.<\/p>\n<p>Kafkas halklar\u0131n\u0131n bilinen adlar\u0131n\u0131n \u00e7o\u011funlukla d\u0131\u015far\u0131dan, ba\u015fkalar\u0131 taraf\u0131ndan verildi\u011fini, her toplulu\u011fun kendisini ve kom\u015fusunu farkl\u0131 bir adla adland\u0131rd\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 da belirtmek gerek. Abazalar kendilerini \u201cApsuwa\u201d, vatanlar\u0131 Abhazya\u2019y\u0131 da \u201cApsn\u0131\u201d olarak adland\u0131r\u0131rlar. G\u00fcrc\u00fcler Abazalar\u0131 \u201cAphazi\u201d, Svanlar \u201cMibhaz\u201d, \u00c7erkesler de \u201cAze\u011fa\u201d veya \u201cAz\u0131\u011fa\u201d olarak adland\u0131r\u0131rlar.<br \/>\nTarihi bilgilere g\u00f6re, Mo\u011follar Kafkasya\u2019dan \u00e7ekildikten sonra, 13. ve 14. y\u00fczy\u0131llardan itibaren Karadeniz k\u0131y\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n ve Abhazya\u2019n\u0131n da\u011fl\u0131k b\u00f6lgelerinde yasayan Abazalar\u0131n bir k\u0131sm\u0131 Kafkas da\u011flar\u0131n\u0131 ge\u00e7erek Kuzey Kafkasya\u2019ya, \u00c7erkeslerin ve Kara\u00e7aylar\u0131n yasad\u0131\u011f\u0131 Kuban b\u00f6lgesine yerle\u015fti.<\/p>\n<p>(Bug\u00fcnk\u00fc Kara\u00e7ay-\u00c7erkes Cumhuriyeti topraklar\u0131.) Bu grup \u00c7erkesler (Kabardeyler) taraf\u0131ndan \u201cBasha\u011f\u201d, Nogaylar ve Kara\u00e7aylar taraf\u0131ndan \u201cAlt\u0131 Kesek Abaza\u201d olarak adland\u0131r\u0131ld\u0131. Yaz\u0131l\u0131 literat\u00fcre ise daha \u00e7ok, Osetlerin verdi\u011fi iddia edilen \u201cTapanta\u201d ad\u0131yla ge\u00e7tiler. 19. y\u00fczy\u0131l bas\u0131nda bu Abaza grubu alt\u0131 prense ba\u011fl\u0131 alt\u0131 boydan olu\u015fuyordu: Loolar, Biberdler, Dudarukolar, K\u0131l\u0131\u00e7lar, Ge\u00e7ler ve Cantemirler.<\/p>\n<p>Di\u011fer bir n\u00fcfus hareketi 17-18. y\u00fczy\u0131llarda oldu. Yine Abhazya\u2019n\u0131n da\u011fl\u0131k b\u00f6lgelerinden bir grup da\u011flar\u0131 asarak, y\u00fczy\u0131llar \u00f6nce gelen soyda\u015flar\u0131yla ayn\u0131 b\u00f6lgeye yerle\u015fti. Bunlar, da\u011fl\u0131k b\u00f6lgede yasad\u0131klar\u0131ndan dolay\u0131 di\u011fer Abazalar taraf\u0131ndan verilen \u201cAsharuva\u201d veya \u201cSkaravua\u201d (Da\u011fl\u0131) ad\u0131n\u0131 korudular ve bu bir etnik ada d\u00f6n\u00fcst\u00fc. Asharuvalar Tam, K\u0131z\u0131lbek, Sahgirey (\u00c7egrey), Barakay, Ba\u011f vd. boylar\u0131ndan olu\u015fuyordu.<\/p>\n<p>Bu n\u00fcfus hareketleri sonucunda Abazalar co\u011frafi olarak iki gruba ayr\u0131lm\u0131\u015f oldu. Farkl\u0131 dland\u0131rmalar da buna ba\u011fl\u0131 olarak ortaya \u00e7\u0131kt\u0131. G\u00fcrc\u00fclerin Abhazya\u2019daki komsular\u0131 Abazalara verdikleri \u201cAphazi\u201d ad\u0131 Ruslar taraf\u0131ndan \u201cAbhaz\u201d olarak benimsendi. Kuzey Kafkasya\u2019daki Tapanta (Basha\u011f) ve Asharuva gruplar\u0131 ise \u201cAbaza\u201d ad\u0131n\u0131 korudular, fakat o da Rus\u00e7a\u2019da milliyet adlar\u0131n\u0131n sonuna eklenen bir tak\u0131yla \u201cAbazin\u201d olarak yerle\u015fti. \u00c7arl\u0131k d\u00f6neminde ortaya \u00e7\u0131kan ve Sovyetler Birli\u011fi\u2019nin \u201cmilliyetler politikas\u0131\u201dyla iyice yerle\u015fen bu ayr\u0131m sonucunda \u201cAbhazlar\u201d ve \u201cAbazinler\u201d akraba fakat ayr\u0131 iki halk olarak kabul edildi.<\/p>\n<p>Yani Abhaz ve Abazin Abazalar\u0131n iki grubuna Rus\u00e7a\u2019da verilen adlard\u0131r. Abhazya\u2019daki Abazalar \u201cAbhaz\u201d, Rusya\u2019ya ba\u011fl\u0131 Kara\u00e7ay-\u00c7erkes Cumhuriyeti\u2019nde yasayan Abazalar \u201cAbazin\u201d olarak adland\u0131r\u0131l\u0131r. Rus\u00e7a arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla ge\u00e7ti\u011fi Bat\u0131 dillerinde de genellikle b\u00f6yle kullan\u0131l\u0131r. T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019de ise y\u00fczy\u0131llard\u0131r var olan \u201cAbaza\u201d ad\u0131 b\u00f6yle bir ayr\u0131m i\u00e7ermez. Ancak 1950\u2019li y\u0131llardan itibaren yay\u0131nlanmaya ba\u015flayan Kafkas dergileri arac\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131yla, o zaman bu konuya kafa yormayan yazar ve \u00e7evirmenler \u201cAbhaz\u201d ve \u201cAbazin\u201d adlar\u0131n\u0131 Rus\u00e7a\u2019dan T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019ye ithal ettiler. 90\u2019l\u0131 y\u0131llardan itibaren Kafkasya\u2019dan bilgi ak\u0131s\u0131n\u0131n artmas\u0131yla birlikte \u201cAbhaz\u201d ve \u201cAbazin\u201d kullan\u0131m\u0131 daha da yayg\u0131nla\u015ft\u0131.<\/p>\n<p>(\u0130tiraf etmeliyim ki, ben de bir\u00e7ok \u00e7eviride b\u00f6yle kulland\u0131m.) Ancak son zamanlarda bu adlar anlamlar\u0131ndan farkl\u0131 \u015fekilde, \u00e7o\u011fu ki\u015finin de genellikle fark\u0131nda olmad\u0131\u011f\u0131 \u015fekilde tutars\u0131zca kullan\u0131lmaya ba\u015flad\u0131. \u00d6zellikle son y\u0131llarda derneklerin b\u00fcltenlerinde, dergilerinde ve ilgili ki\u015filerin a\u011fz\u0131nda \u2018Abhaz\u2019\u0131n Abaza ile e\u015fanlaml\u0131 kullan\u0131ld\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 g\u00f6r\u00fcyoruz. Oysa Abhaz sadece Abhazya\u2019da yasayanlara verilen isimdir (ki o da T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019de de\u011fil) ve Kuzey Kafkasya\u2019daki Abazalar\u0131 kapsamaz.<\/p>\n<p>K\u00fc\u00e7\u00fck bir \u00e7evre d\u0131\u015f\u0131nda halk\u0131n kullan\u0131m\u0131na hen\u00fcz girmeyen \u201cAbazin\u201d ad\u0131na gelince, T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019de bu sekliyle kullanmak en basta bir dil yanl\u0131s\u0131d\u0131r. Bir\u00e7ok dilde oldu\u011fu gibi Rus\u00e7a\u2019da da milliyet isimlerinin sonuna baz\u0131 tak\u0131lar gelir; bunlar\u0131n en yayg\u0131nlar\u0131ndan biri de \u2018-in\u2019dir. Rus\u00e7a\u2019da Tatarin, Gruzin (G\u00fcrc\u00fc), Lezgin, Dargin, Kabardin, Osetin, Abazin olan halk adlar\u0131 ba\u015fka bir dile tak\u0131s\u0131yla birlikte ge\u00e7mez (ge\u00e7memelidir).<\/p>\n<p>Abazalar\u0131n kendi i\u00e7indeki adland\u0131rmalar da ayr\u0131 bir konudur. Kendilerine verdikleri \u201cApsuwa\u201d ad\u0131 Kuzey Kafkasya\u2019daki Abazalarda, \u00f6zellikle Tapantalarda yoktur; kendi dillerinde kendilerini yine \u201cAbaza\u201d olarak adland\u0131r\u0131rlar. Apsuwa ad\u0131 muhtemelen zamanla kaybolmu\u015ftur; A\u015fharuvalar da ise son zamanlara kadar korundu\u011funa dair izler vard\u0131r. Abhazya\u2019daki Abazalar (Apsuwalar) Kuzey Kafkasyal\u0131 soyda\u015flar\u0131n\u0131 topluca \u201cA\u015fuva\u201d diye adland\u0131r\u0131r. T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de ise bu konuda bir kar\u0131\u015f\u0131kl\u0131k var. Orta Anadolu\u2019daki (\u00f6zellikle Uzunyayla\u2019da) A\u015fharuvalar kendilerini A\u015fuva saymazlar, sadece Tapantalar\u0131 A\u015fuva kabul ederler. Muhtemelen Abhazya\u2019dan kuzeye yerle\u015fmeden \u00f6nce kulland\u0131klar\u0131 terminolojiyi s\u00fcrd\u00fcrmektedirler. Kuzeyli Abazalarla Apsuwalar\u0131n birlikte yasad\u0131\u011f\u0131 daha bat\u0131da ise (Eski\u015fehir, Bilecik, Bursa) kullan\u0131m farkl\u0131d\u0131r. Burada \u2018A\u015fharuva\u2019 bir topluluk ad\u0131 olarak bilinmez; Apsuwalar d\u0131\u015f\u0131ndaki b\u00fct\u00fcn Abazalar \u2018A\u015fuva\u2019d\u0131r.<\/p>\n<p>T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de Abazalar\u0131n iki grubunun da Kafkasya\u2019dakinden daha fazla n\u00fcfusu vard\u0131r. 1860-70\u2019lerde Osmanl\u0131 topraklar\u0131na Abhazya\u2019dan gelen Abazalar (Apsuwalar) Anadolu\u2019nun bat\u0131 ve orta b\u00f6lgelerine (\u0130zmit, Adapazar\u0131, D\u00fczce, Bolu, Bursa-\u0130neg\u00f6l, K\u00fctahya, Bilecik ve Eski\u015fehir\u2019e) yerle\u015ftiler.<\/p>\n<p>Kuzey Kafkasya\u2019dan gelen Abazalar (A\u015fuvalar) ise k\u00f6ylerini \u0130\u00e7 ve Orta Anadolu\u2019da kurdular (Bilecik, Eski\u015fehir, Samsun, Amasya, Tokat, Yozgat, Sivas, Kayseri, Adana). Bu ikinci grup i\u00e7inde b\u00fcy\u00fck \u00e7o\u011funlu\u011fu A\u015fharuvalar olu\u015fturur; Tapanta (Basha\u011f) k\u00f6ylerinin say\u0131s\u0131 b\u00fct\u00fcn T\u00fcrkiye\u2019de onu ge\u00e7mez. (1)<\/p>\n<p>Son y\u0131llarda \u2018Abaza\u2019 yerine \u2018Abhaz\u2019\u0131n tercih edilmesinin bir nedeni de, bir\u00e7ok ki\u015finin ho\u015f bir anlam\u0131 olmayan \u2018abazan\u2019\u0131 \u2018Abaza\u2019 ile kar\u0131\u015ft\u0131rmas\u0131d\u0131r. Bunun elbette psikolojik etkisi vard\u0131r. Fakat bu, Abazalar\u0131n bir halk olarak tan\u0131nmas\u0131yla ortadan kalkacak bir durumdur ve bunun i\u00e7in ondan<br \/>\nvazge\u00e7mek yerine yayg\u0131nla\u015ft\u0131rmaya \u00e7al\u0131\u015fmak gerekir. Birka\u00e7 y\u0131l \u00f6nce Lale M\u00fcld\u00fcr\u2019\u00fcn Radikal \u0130ki\u2019de yapt\u0131\u011f\u0131 patavats\u0131zl\u0131\u011f\u0131 ve gelen tepkiler \u00fczerine gazetenin \u00f6z\u00fcr dilemek zorunda kald\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131 hat\u0131rlay\u0131n.<\/p>\n<p>Simdi en az\u0131ndan medya bunu \u00f6\u011frendi. B\u00f6yle bir durumla kar\u015f\u0131la\u015ft\u0131\u011f\u0131n\u0131zda kars\u0131n\u0131zdakine \u2018Abaza\u2019n\u0131n 150 y\u0131ld\u0131r bu \u00fclkede yasayan bir halk\u0131n ad\u0131 oldu\u011funu ve biraz sayg\u0131l\u0131 olmay\u0131 \u00f6\u011frenmesi gerekti\u011fini s\u00f6yleyebilirsiniz.<\/p>\n<p>Sonu\u00e7 olarak \u2018Abaza\u2019 hem tarihi, hem de T\u00fcrk\u00e7e\u2019ye yerle\u015fmi\u015f kar\u015f\u0131l\u0131\u011f\u0131 olarak bu halk\u0131n ortak ad\u0131d\u0131r. Kafkas halklar\u0131nda nadir g\u00f6r\u00fclen bir durum, bir halk\u0131n tamam\u0131n\u0131n tek bir adla adland\u0131r\u0131lmas\u0131 ger\u00e7ekle\u015fmi\u015fken bunu tersine \u00e7evirmenin gere\u011fi yoktur. Bu ayr\u0131m zaten halk\u0131n dilinde de\u011fil, daha \u00e7ok yazar-\u00e7izerlerin, dernek\u00e7ilerin a\u011fz\u0131nda ve kalemindedir.
